In response to my previous exploration of my contemporary identity as a mother I then produced a large-scale textile doll in my image for my children to interact with as a reflection on our reciprocal relationship. Within the sphere of our family activities I staged a series of performances that investigated our on-going and intimate relationship with a large craft object.
Over the course of the last few months I have invited both biological and symbolic mothers to come on a series of walkabouts with me as we discussed our experiences and concerns about contemporary motherhood. These performances contributed to taking the maternal out of the domestic space and activating public space with others maternal actions.
